Cop wounded in mall shootout

A police officer and a gunman were wounded in a shootout at the Mthembeka shopping complex in Tembisa, Gauteng police said on Friday. Spokesperson Constable Joyce Setshedi said two police officers were conducting a search on Thursday when a man opened fire on them. "One policeman was shot in the shoulder and the gunman was shot in his stomach by the other policeman." Both men were taken to hospital. The motive for the shooting was unknown. A case of attempted murder was opened. - Sapa
